Google Cutting 4,000 Jobs at Newly-Acquired Motorola Mobility

Original Post (8/14/12): The formerly Liberyville-based cellphone manufacturer is having about 20% of its jobs cut and closing or downgrading operations around the world. Update (8/21/12): At least 750 of the jobs being cut at Motorola Mobility are coming from its Libertyville location. To Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, this cut sets back his initiatives to make Chicago a major hub for technology and innovation. Continue reading here.

Google will be cutting about 20% of Motorola Mobility jobs and consolidating the company to make it profitable again. Google states that 2/3 of the jobs being cut will be outside the United States.
